The AXREM Regulatory & Policy Committee serves as a central forum for monitoring, understanding and influencing the regulatory and policy landscape affecting the medical technology, diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and healthcare IT sectors. Bringing together representatives from AXREM member companies and those actively engaged with external industry, regulatory and government groups, the Committee helps ensure that members remain informed, prepared and able to respond effectively to evolving legislation, standards and policy developments.
The Committee plays a key role in coordinating AXREM’s responses to government, NHS, regulatory and industry consultations, enabling the association to present a clear, consistent and united voice on issues affecting the sector. By reviewing emerging regulations, identifying potential risks and opportunities and sharing intelligence across the membership, the Committee helps members navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment while supporting AXREM’s wider strategic objectives.
A significant part of the Committee’s work involves maintaining engagement with major organisations and stakeholders across the healthcare and regulatory landscape, including the MHRA, NICE, BSI, GAMBICA and other policy, standards and compliance bodies. Through these relationships, the Committee provides valuable insight into forthcoming regulatory changes and sector priorities, ensuring AXREM members are aware of developments that may affect their products, services and operations.
The Committee’s areas of focus span a broad range of regulatory and policy topics including medical device regulation, product safety, technical performance and conformity, artificial intelligence governance, sustainability, cybersecurity, environmental legislation, responsible sourcing, circular economy initiatives and post-market surveillance requirements. It also monitors evolving requirements relating to chemicals regulation, digital assessment frameworks, telecommunications security, batteries, packaging, electromagnetic compatibility and broader ESG and climate-related obligations.
