AXREM has been shortlisted for a three Trade Association Forum Best Practice Awards:

  • Innovation of the Year
  • ESG Initiative of the Year
  • Helena Robinson for Association Executive of the Year

These national awards recognise, reward, and promote best practice among trade associations in the UK. These industry-recognised awards are supported by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) which is a longstanding member of the awards independent final judging panel.

The awards will take place on Thursday 23rd February 2023 at The Merchant Taylors’ Hall, in central London. When there is an expected audience of over 200 leading figures from the UK trade association world.

AXREM has increased its work and representation of the diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, and associated IT industry over the last 3 years, so being shortlisted for these awards really is recognition of this work. The association has been shortlisted for Innovation of the Year in recognition of the AXREM Member Accreditation Scheme, that was launched in April of this year, a true low cost “not for profit” accreditation scheme which reduces the cost burden within the supply chain; (costs that would otherwise inevitably find themselves reflected in the cost of products and services borne by NHS Trusts). To date the scheme has over 2000 registrants, offered as an AXREM member benefit, and run as not for profit.

Helena Robinson, Statistics Manager & AMA Operations Manager has been nominated and shortlisted for the Association Executive of the Year award, in recognition of all her hard work setting up the AXREM Member Accreditation (AMA) scheme. Helena went above and beyond working to tight deadlines ensuring that the scheme was launched on time with good governance practices in place.

On being shortlisted Helena Robinson said “I was really surprised to be nominated for this award. The AXREM team has been working on this accreditation project for quite some time, so seeing it finally come to fruition through all of our hard work has been so rewarding, especially as we know that this will save the NHS money in the long run by not passing on the burden of unnecessary costs”.

AXREM have also been shortlisted for the ESG Initiative of the Year, In January 2020 Sir Simon Stephens, then CEO of NHS launched the campaign For a Greener NHS, AXREM members have recognised this emergency and have been supportive of the NHS and its vital mission.

Subsequently AXREM have worked with members to establish a Sustainability Special Focus Group (SFG). This is a group open to all AXREM members, giving them a forum to engage with NHS England and NHS Supply Chain, to discuss and support the latest challengers in relation to the NHS net zero target.

Normally SFG’s are made up purely of members, with guest speakers invited as required. This is the first SFG to contain members from the NHS England team, as well as NHS Supply Chain. Everyone sees the need to team up to win on this vital action, having such a dramatic impact on our industry, as well as the planet.

There are no Individual winners looking at how social value and climate change can impact our Industry. It is a priority and one that the SFG recognises and supports the need to unite, collaborate on and ultimately find tangible solutions to this health emergency.

The AXREM SFG is nominated as it has started our industry on a new path. One granted with a lot of questions and challengers, but a commitment from all, to work together finding a solution and workflows that will accelerate the transition of our industry and support Net zero and social value goals of NHS and the Private sector.

It has united the passion and drive of our members, driving real change in the industry. Growing the SFG with the support of key members from the NHS, who are invited to speak and join in the way Industry is being shaped. Moving away from historical, capital models of purchasing, to a more circular economy methodology where equipment is kept for longer and repurposed ensuring the most efficient use of resources.

On hearing the shortlisting news, Sally Edgington, AXREM Director said “I am so pleased that all the work being done by AXREM members, and the team is being recognised with these shortlisted awards. When I joined AXREM nearly 4 years ago I could see so much potential, and I feel that on a daily basis we are reaching new heights that some may not have thought possible back then. The dedication and commitment of ethical good industry companies give me the drive and determination to ensure AXREM is the voice of our industry, and that we can lead and influence on important policy and industry matters”.
