AXREM Present Alzheimer’s Research UK with 2024 Money

AXREM announced earlier this year a new initiative to support a charity of the year, making a donation from the association, as well as hosting fundraising activities throughout 2024.

The AXREM Executive Committee and Future Leaders Council met in London on Monday 16th December and were pleased to present to the charity a large cheque for over £3500. The cheque was presented to Lucy Bedford, Regional Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, who has worked with AXREM throughout 2024.

Alzheimer’s Research UK are the UK’s leading dementia research charity, and exists for a cure. The charity is working to revolutionise the way dementia is treated, diagnosed, and prevented. But they will not stop there. With your support, Alzheimer’s Research UK will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia.

Lucy Bedford, Regional Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK said upon receiving the cheque: “We are immensely grateful for AXREM’s incredible fundraising efforts over the past year. With 1 in 2 of us affected by dementia, either by developing it ourselves or caring for someone with the condition, this is a cause that resonates deeply with many of their employees. Their dedication is reflected in the remarkable amount they have raised, and these funds will help us continue our vital dementia research. We are truly grateful for their commitment to making a difference.”

The funds raised included a cash donation from AXREM, funds collected from attendees to the AXREM Happy Hour Drinks Reception held at UKIO in June, and funds raised by David Britton the AXREM Patient Monitoring Special Focus Group Convenor and Patient Monitoring and Life Support Marketing Manager UKI at Mindray, who embraced this new initiative and immediately signed up to run the Great North Run Half Marathon and raised over £700.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said “We had a great first year of fundraising and have worked closely with Alzheimer’s Research UK throughout 2024 not only raising money but also raising the profile of the charity with our members and follows. We are pleased to have been able to support their campaigns and raise over £3500 for this charity that plays such an important role in finding a cure for dementia.”

“This initiative has also brought out community together to raise money and I am looking forward to announcing the AXREM 2025 charity of the year early in the new year and seeing if we can exceed this year’s amount!
