AXREM Celebrates Industry Excellence at First Members Lunch and Awards in Central London
05 May 2026
AXREM brought its community together for a landmark moment as it hosted its first Members Lunch and Awards at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms. With 200 attendees from across the UK’s diagnostic imaging and medtech sector, the event combined celebration, reflection and a shared sense of purpose.
The introduction of the AXREM Awards created a focal point for recognising the people and teams driving real progress across the industry.
The Shining Star Award was presented to Anna Vaughan from Varian, recognising emerging talent and commitment to the sector. Anna was delighted to pick up her award from the award sponsor Skilled Personnel.

Chris Taylor from Philips received the Sustainability Trailblazer Award, highlighting leadership in embedding more sustainable practices within healthcare and medtech. Chris thought being the only person up for two categories meant he’d miss out but he was pleasantly surprised to pick up the Sustainability Trailblazer award from award Sponsor CPD Match.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Jeevan Gunaratnam from Philips in recognition of a career dedicated to advancing the field and supporting better patient outcomes over many years. Jeevan said, “I’m shocked! I don’t think it’s hit me, I wasn’t expecting it, I think when I get home is when it will hit me.” The award was presented by representatives from Highland.

Team of the Year was awarded to xWave Technologies, celebrating collaboration, innovation and measurable impact as a collective. Two members of the xWave team were there to collect the award from Convenzis CEO Daniel Snape.

A standout moment from the afternoon came from Victoria Derbyshire, whose candid and powerful reflections on her experience as a cancer patient brought a deeply human perspective to the room. Her contribution reinforced the importance of the technologies, services and partnerships represented by AXREM members.
Guests also heard a ministerial address from Minister Zubir Ahmed , reinforcing the importance of continued collaboration between industry and government.
Sally Edgington, CEO of AXREM, said:
“Bringing together more than 200 people from across our community, with representation from over 60 organisations was a powerful reminder of the strength and impact of our sector. Our Members’ Lunch celebrated the innovation, dedication and everyday heroes who support patients and the NHS. We are excited to build this into a prestigious annual event that shines a light on the remarkable work being done across our industry.”

The event was supported by AXREM’s partners and sponsors, including Highland, CPD Match, Radmagazine, Ellew Medtech Talent, Convenzis, Skilled Personnel and EBME Expo, whose contribution helped make the day possible.
Huge thanks also to all our members who though raffle prizes and donations, helped us raise just under £4000 on the day for our Charity of the year Dementia UK.
