AXREM Director Sally Edgington signs letter to Boris Johnson to address urgent cancer backlog crisis

Share

Following the success of the AXREM Radiotherapy Manifesto published last month and subsequent communications with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Radiotherapy, Sally Edgington has signed a letter on behalf of the association to British Prime Minster Boris Johnson.

The letter calls upon the government to address the urgent cancer backlog crisis, and the letter has been signed by many representatives of the cancer community and parliamentarians.

The letter advises that we are gravely concerned that the scale and severity of this backlog is not being accepted and that existing measures to tackle it are not sufficient. As a result, we fear that tens of thousands of cancer patients will be lost unnecessarily.

Sally Edgington AXREM Director said “the UK government must make urgent and substantial investment in cancer treatment such as radiotherapy, as well as extending the workforce and ensuring patients are diagnosed as quickly as possible and they can access treatment quickly. The AXREM radiotherapy Manifesto highlights many of these issues and I feel that the collaboration across the cancer community is having a real impact to highlight these urgent matters”.
