AXREM Statement on Vaccination as a Condition of Deployment
07 March 2022
The UK Government’s proposed regulations which would make vaccination for Coronavirus (Covid-19) a condition of deployment for health and social care staff presents challenges for AXREM members. AXREM members employees work closely alongside NHS colleagues in delivering healthcare to the nation through supplying, implementing, training and supporting leading edge healthcare technologies which aid NHS colleagues to diagnose and treat patients, including Covid-19, and the applicability and potential impact of the proposed regulations to employees of AXREM members working in health and social care settings is unclear.
AXREM welcomes the oral statement in the House of Commons by the Health Secretary, Sajid Javid on 31st January 2022 where he announced the launch of a consultation on ending vaccination as a condition of deployment in health and all social care settings. We also welcome the outcome of the consultation published on 1st March 2022, which states “In light of consultation, the government is proceeding with revocation and the regulations revoking vaccination as a condition of deployment in all health and social care settings will come into force on 15th March, 2022.”
The revoking of the proposed regulations removes uncertainty and provides AXREM members with clarity which enables us to continue to support the critical work of NHS staff in dealing with and recovering from the impact of the pandemic and to support them in dealing with the backlog which has built up during the pandemic.
