Following the launch of the new AXREM Patient Monitoring Special Focus Group and the inaugural meeting taking place at the end of February, AXREM are pleased to announce the appointment of David Britton as Convenor of the group.

The group was established because at the end of last year AXREM were approached by several companies working in the patient monitoring space, to see if the association could represent their sector.

Patient monitoring is the observation of a patient’s vital sign measurements over a period of time. It is usually performed by continually measuring certain medical parameters. Patient monitoring devices are increasingly compatible with electronic patient records and have interoperability with other devices to provide clinicians with a complete patient view.

David Britton, Patient Monitoring and Life Support Marketing Manager UKI at Mindray has been the driving force along with AXREM Director, Sally Edgington of setting up the group, and ensuring that the patient monitoring community has an industry voice.

David Britton started working in healthcare sales back in 1990 covering the South East of England for patient monitoring, infusion devices and consumables. David loved the simplicity of working hard resulting in greater success. David’s customers have always been generous in allowing him the time to understand their challenges and how industry can better support them to help improve patient outcomes.

David has been involved in patient monitoring for 23 years with a further 10 as modality lead for imaging in Cath labs, Mamography, X ray and Surgery which is where he first became involved with AXREM. David has been in sales and marketing management for 23 years and says he has been supported by some incredible teams.

David Britton said “I am delighted that the industry has been able to establish a special focus group dedicated to patient monitoring and would like to thank all the companies that have been so positive in their support, in initiating the group and of course to Sally Edgington and AXREM for making this happen.”

“This will give this corner of the medical industry a voice to better support our customers. There are common challenges that our customers and industry face not least with regard to connectivity, Interoperability, common standards and a joined up approach between hospital and home. Clinical needs will be better addressed as we, as an industry, have a common voice that support the NHS and Private sector more effectively”.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Director said “I am really pleased we have been able to establish this new group and David has been instrumental in helping me get this off the ground and to help me engage with companies in the patient monitoring space. I am looking forward to working with David to see how we can grow and develop this group and ensure the patient monitoring companies engaged in the group have a strong industry voice”.
