AXREM Bids a Fond Farwell to Executive Committee Member

Adele Lyons from Varian has recently announced she is retiring from Varian, meaning she will also leave her role representing Varian on the AXREM Executive Committee. Adele has been an active member of the AXREM Executive Committee for almost 20 years and was the first chair of the Radiotherapy SFG when it was reformed back in 2019. During her time as Radiotherapy Convenor Adele drafted the original radiotherapy manifesto, which was published in 2021, and was the first manifesto from a special focus group. Adele has also made some valuable introductions to organisations that have now become key stakeholder for AXREM including Radiotherapy UK & Professor Pat Price, which also led to AXREM’s involvement with the All-party Parliamentary Group for Radiotherapy.

Adele Lyon has had a career with Varian spanning some 27 years, holding positions including Product Manager for Imaging and Simulation systems, National Sales Director and lastly the Zone Head for GB&I responsible for the sales and service business for Varian GB&I.

Adele Lyons said upon making her retirement announcement “I have been so fortunate to have had the most rewarding career and to have worked with so many wonderful and inspiring people, colleagues and customers. Ensuring that all patients that need radiotherapy receive it, that the standard of delivery is the highest it can be , where ever you live , has been my passion and will continue to be. Being a member of AXREM and the Radiotherapy Special Focus group has been a key part in trying to achieve this goal and influence key stakeholders”.
