AXREM Announce New Charity of the Year Initiative

Share

AXREM is pleased to announce that we will be nominating a charity of the year and making a donation from the association, as well as hosting some fundraising activities throughout each year, to a cause close to our members and industries hearts and the work they do.

We are pleased to announce that our first ever AXREM charity of the year for 2024 will be Alzheimer’s Research UK. As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK exists for a cure. The charity is working to revolutionise the way dementia is treated, diagnosed, and prevented. But they will not stop there. With your support, Alzheimer’s Research UK will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia.

Lucy Bedford, Regional Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by AXREM as their first charity of the year. AXREM’s important work supplying diagnostic equipment for a range of diseases aligns with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s dedication to improve diagnostic pathways for people living with dementia. A huge thank you to all the AXREM staff for your support. On behalf of the charity, we look forward to working together to raise vital funds for dementia research and for a cure.”

This fundraising is a great way of AXREM and the associations members giving something back, with many companies already doing their own fundraising for various charities. At the AXREM Happy Hour Drinks Reception in June at this year’s UKIO in Liverpool, we will be doing a collection from attendees to the charity and hoping to significantly boost our fundraising efforts. We have also set a fundraising page up with JustGiving and the link is below, we would welcome any donations of support.

Furthermore, AXREM will also be supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK’s campaigns including the relaunch of ‘Change the Ending’ campaign on 6th March, 20-27th May is Dementia Action Week and September is World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said “I am really pleased to show our support to an annual charity and couldn’t think of one more appropriate for our sector than Alzheimer’s Research UK. I have been a voluntary fundraiser since the age of 13 and raised over £30,000 for various charities over the years, so I am pleased to bring fundraising onto the workplace and am excited to take this initiative forward and raise much needed funds for various charities year on year”.

The hope is that in December we will welcome Alzheimer’s Research UK to AXREM to formerly present a cheque.
