AXREM is the UK trade association representing the interests of suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment in the UK. AXREM has an active Radiotherapy Special Focus Group, and we represent most radiotherapy companies in the UK.

AXREM are pleased to announce that Dan Baines, Country Manager UK & Ireland at Elekta has been appointed at the new Radiotherapy SFG Convenor. Dan has been an active member of both the Radiotherapy SFG and the AXREM Executive Committee for some time, so is able to hit the ground running and will Chair his first meeting in just a few days’ time.

Dan Baines has been involved in the medical healthcare industry for over twenty-four years, and he feels it has been a privilege to be part of and to observe the healthcare sector evolution over this rapidly changing period in medical history. Dan has a degree in human physiology, and entered the field of pharmaceuticals, and after building experience in the therapy areas of cardiology, diabetology and diagnostics he migrated towards oncology, an area that particularly excites and interests Dan. The passion and caring of the medical community in this field, the sheer volume of patients that require treatment, and the rapid advancements in technology that directly improve patient outcomes and experiences really drive Dan to do what he can to help in this critical sector.

Dan Baines said upon being appointed “When the chance to volunteer for the role of Radiotherapy SFG Convenor became available, I saw this as further opportunity to positively impact radiotherapy. I believe the demands on healthcare providers and companies have never been greater at any point in modern history; budgets, staff shortages, supply chain issues, and the challenges of achieving sustainability are stretching all involved, at each touchpoint in the care pathway. As Convenor I will listen to and work with members, I’ll bring my network and experiences to consolidate the group to see what we can do for radiotherapy, but also what we can do as an industry to do things differently in this fast-changing marketplace”.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Director said of the appointment “The radiotherapy SFG has done some important work over the last three years, publishing a manifesto, supporting the catch up to cancer campaign and the work of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Radiotherapy, I am looking forward to working alongside Daniel to see how we can further progress the work of the group and ensure patients get the very best treatment using AXREM members innovative technologies”.
