Member Swimming for AXREM Charity of the Year

AXREM is the UK Trade association representing the interests of suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment including patient monitoring in the UK. Last year we launch a new initiative – Charity of the Year and had a great year of fundraising. The chosen charity for 2025 is Action for Children, who protect and support children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and are campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives.

Evie Eccles, VP Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance at Blackford and also a member of the AXREM Future Leaders Council will be challenging herself to focus on improving her swimming and completing the 3 Go Swim challenges in the 750m SKINS category (That means no wetsuit!).

Evie Eccles said “I’ve always loved getting in open water and in 2024 decided that I should get in more regularly. I completed approximately 75 dips/swims in 2024, mostly in the North Sea at Portobello Beach. with a few in the Atlantic from the Outer Hebrides. I did some loch swimming too in the 2024 go swim events and found they were tough going. The temperature and weather conditions are always unpredictable in Scotland and yes there are waves (big ones) in lochs.

As a member of the AXREM future Leaders Council I’d like to raise funds for the AXREM Charity of the year Action for Children along the way”.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said “It is really great to see members supporting our initiatives and Evie is a star and a lot braver than me swimming in low temperature seas. I look forward to following Evie’s challenges and supporting her fundraising efforts”.
