HUW SHURMER ANNOUNCED AS NEW AXREM VICE CHAIR

AXREM is pleased to announce that Huw Shurmer, Strategic and Government Relationship Manager at Fujifilm Healthcare UK, will be starting the role of AXREM Vice Chair from January 2024.

Huw brings nearly thirty years of broad medical imaging experience to the vice chair role. His journey started in the NHS (National Health Service) as a modernisation manager, before moving to Fujifilm where he has supported and implemented radiology equipment installations and large-scale software systems across the UK. All this experience has provided him with invaluable hands-on industry experience that is required to represent AXREM, its members and the medical imaging industry through a period of growth.

During his term as Vice Chair, Huw wants to see AXREMs membership grow, allowing it to gain a wider industry representation and be seen as the main voice for the medical devices and imaging industry.

Huw Shurmer upon being appointed said “Since originally joining AXREM, I have seen its impact, relevancy and engagement as the key industry trade body grow. I believe the Vice Chair needs to have good understanding of all the areas that AXREM represents, and I will support the CEO and Chair by continuing to engage with our key opinion leaders. I am keen to shape AXREM’s future direction as a powerful representative industry voice.”

Sally Edgington, AXREM CEO said upon Huw being appointed “I am excited for the next chapter of the senior team within AXREM, Huw Shurmer has been an active member of the Executive Committee for the last two years and demonstrated his expert knowledge, commitment, and passion for AXREM and the industries we represent. I am looking forward to working with Huw over the next 4 years as Vice Chair and then Chair to further grow the associations voice, membership, and value offering”.

AXREM Chair, Jeevan Gunaratnam said “I am delighted to welcome Huw as AXREM’s new Vice Chair. He has been a valuable member of our Executive Committee, supporting a busy programme of activities and external engagement. I am thrilled to be working even more closely with Huw to represent the collective voice and strength of our industry”.

This announcement comes after Ila Dobson, Director Strategic Accounts, NHS Supply Chain, Procurement, Government Relations at GE Healthcare completed a 4-year term as Vice Chair & Chair. Under Ila’s leadership the association has seen huge growth in membership, the creation of the AXREM Member Accreditation Scheme and Ila had been instrumental in ensuring AXREM are the go-to representative voice of the diagnostic imaging industry.
