Dedalus launches next-generation LIMS to modernise pathology diagnostics and support customer upgrades

next-generation LIMS

New version of Dedalus LIMS to support multi-site pathology networks and modern diagnostic workflows

24 March 2026: Dedalus has launched a new generation of its laboratory information management system (LIMS), providing a modern, scalable, cloud native pathology platform designed to replace legacy laboratory systems and support the evolving needs of diagnostic services.

The new Dedalus LIMS represents a significant step forward for existing customers, offering a clear upgrade path from earlier systems while introducing a contemporary, user-focused platform built for today’s diagnostic workflows.

“Dedalus LIMS has been reimagined as a modern digital platform for pathology,” said Richard Craven, Managing Director, UK & Ireland at Dedalus. “It is a fundamental upgrade- designed to give laboratories the usability, flexibility and performance they need to operate efficiently in a modern, high volume healthcare environment.”

Unlike legacy laboratory systems, which were often designed decades ago, the new platform delivers a contemporary user experience alongside enhanced workflow management, automation and interoperability.

The solution supports the full diagnostic lifecycle – from sample registration and analyser integration through to validation and reporting – while enabling laboratories to operate more efficiently across disciplines and locations.

At the core of the new release is a modern Angular-based interface, replacing traditional environments, some of which are still green-screen, with an intuitive, configurable workspace that improves usability for laboratory staff and supports more efficient workflows.

Key improvements include enhanced audit and compliance capabilities, greater flexibility in workflow configuration, and the removal of historical system constraints that have limited usability in earlier platforms.

The platform also introduces improved visibility of laboratory processes, helping reduce unnecessary or repeat testing and supporting faster delivery of diagnostic results to clinicians.

“Modern pathology services need digital platforms that are intuitive, configurable and built for scale,” Richard Craven added. “This release ensures our customers can transition from legacy systems to a future-ready platform, while maintaining continuity of service.”

A clear upgrade path for existing customers

Dedalus has designed the new LIMS to support a structured transition for existing users of earlier laboratory systems. This approach allows laboratories to plan upgrades in a controlled and low-risk manner while benefiting from the enhanced capabilities of the new version.

Built for modern diagnostics

Dedalus LIMS has been developed to support modern diagnostic workflows across multiple pathology disciplines, including Cellular Pathology, Blood Sciences, Blood Transfusion, Microbiology and Mortuary management.

The platform is also compatible with Dedalus DeepUnity, enabling integration with AI assisted digital pathology solutions.

By combining a modern user experience with enhanced workflow automation, compliance support and multi-site capability, Dedalus LIMS provides laboratories with a future-ready platform for delivering high-quality diagnostic services.
