Ben Reed and Amit Chavda announced as Convenor as Vice Convenor of the AI SFG

AXREM, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Reed as Convenor and Amit Chavda as Vice Convenor of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Special Focus Group (SFG).

These appointments mark an exciting new chapter for the AI SFG as AXREM continues to champion the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence technologies that enhance patient care, improve clinical efficiency and support innovation across the healthcare system.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly recognised as a transformative technology within healthcare, with the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, streamline workflows and support better patient outcomes. As adoption accelerates across the NHS and wider healthcare sector, the need for collaboration, robust governance and clear implementation frameworks has never been greater.

The AXREM AI Special Focus Group plays a leading role in shaping the future of AI adoption within healthcare by promoting a responsible, scalable and patient-centred approach. Through its recently published AI Manifesto, the SFG advocates for consistent evaluation frameworks, proportionate risk management and streamlined innovation pathways, ensuring that AI technologies can be adopted safely and effectively while delivering measurable improvements in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and patient care.

Ben Reed has been engaged in the Imaging Informatics community for 31 years, the last 23 of them at Siemens Healthineers. Starting his career as a software developer with Amersham Medical Systems back in 1995, Ben has held roles in customer support, project management, implementation both at AMS and since at Siemens Healthineers, where he also did international implementation work and global customer and internal training roles before moving more into the sales roles in 2014, looking after the entire range of Imaging IT products in Advanced Visualisation and AI, Performance Management, Remote Scanner Control, Radiology and Cardiology PACS and more recently Pathology PACS. Ben has been part of the Imaging IT, AI and Digital Pathology SFGs over the last 12 years, having served as Vice Convenor on both the Imaging IT SFG and the AI SFG over that time as well as being part of the team creating various AXREM Whitepapers and Mission Statements.

Amit Chavda is a diagnostic radiography professional and healthcare transformation leader with over 18 years of experience spanning clinical practice, NHS commissioning, informatics and digital health consulting. Having qualified as a diagnostic radiographer and built his clinical foundation as Lead Superintendent Radiographer at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, Amit has gone on to hold senior roles across NHS England, Croydon CCG, South Central and West CSU, Siemens Healthineers, and Radiobotics — developing a rare breadth of expertise across radiology operations, clinical pathway transformation, digital health strategy and business development.

Amit holds an MSc in Economic Evaluation of Healthcare from City University London, has completed a Digital Transformation Strategy programme at Imperial College Business School, and is a trained Lean practitioner and NHS Leadership Academy Mary Seacole alumnus. He is recognised as a subject matter expert in radiology, healthcare data and AI-enabled diagnostics, with a strong track record of translating complex clinical and operational challenges into practical, high-impact solutions for NHS organisations and system partners.

Now working for Radiobotics, Amit is also a former Siemens employee who I actually interviewed for his role many years ago. His background in the hospital environment, where he worked on various performance improvement topics and his subsequent role in Healthcare Consulting adds another string to our bow as a Special Focus Group which will be hugely beneficial as one of the focuses of the upcoming AI investments is around real world benefits of AI, a topic that I know Amit will be very well placed to help us engage with”.
