AXREM Celebrates 100-Member Milestone with Tree Planting Across NHS Estates
07 October 2025
AXREM, the UK trade association representing suppliers of diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment to the NHS and independent sector, is proud to announce the achievement of a major milestone: welcoming its 100th member.
To mark this momentous occasion, AXREM has arranged for 100 trees to be planted across NHS Estates in the UK in partnership with the NHS Forest, a powerful gesture that reflects AXREM’s deep commitment to sustainability, sector collaboration, and environmental stewardship.
These trees will be planted as part of the NHS Forest’s winter 2025-26 programme, which will see thousands of native trees distributed to healthcare sites across the UK.
NHS Forest has planted more than 158,000 trees on healthcare sites since its inception in 2009, a testament to the growing momentum behind green healthcare initiatives.
AXREM CEO, Sally Edgington said
“Welcoming our 100th member is a proud milestone, but it’s also a reflection of the values that unite us. Planting 100 trees across NHS Estates is a meaningful way to celebrate sustainability, partnership, and care.
This initiative reflects AXREM’s commitment to shaping a future where healthcare technology supports both people and planet. I’m grateful to our members, strategic focus groups, and partners like NHS Forest for helping us turn purpose into action.”
AXREM’s contribution adds to this impact, with trees being planted at healthcare sites managed by NHS trusts across England, Scotland, and Wales. These trees will include a diverse mix of native species such as hawthorn, hazel, crab apple, and rowan, NHS Forest’s four most commonly supplied varieties in the previous tree planting season enhancing biodiversity and supporting local ecosystems.
This initiative aligns with AXREM’s broader sustainability strategy, which champions responsible procurement, digital transformation, and inclusive innovation across the MedTech sector. It also reinforces AXREM’s support for NHS Forest’s mission to improve the health and wellbeing of patients, staff, and communities through green space and nature based solutions.
As AXREM continues to grow, so too does its impact, not only in shaping the future of healthcare technology, but in nurturing the environments that support it.

Huw Shurmer, AXREM Chair said of this milestone initiative
“Reaching 100 members is not just a numerical milestone, it’s a reflection of the trust, collaboration, and shared vision that define AXREM. I’m incredibly proud of the way our community continues to grow with purpose.
The decision to mark this achievement by planting 100 trees across NHS Estates speaks volumes about who we are and what we stand for. It’s a gesture rooted in sustainability, partnership, and long-term thinking, values that are essential not only to our sector, but to the future of healthcare itself.
I’d like to thank every member, past and present, for contributing to this journey. Together, we’re not only advancing technology and care, we’re leaving a legacy that future generations can stand beneath, quite literally.”
AXREM Sustainability Special Focus Group Convenor, Chris Taylor said
“This tree planting initiative is a powerful symbol of AXREM’s sustainability ethos in action. As Convenor of the Sustainability Strategic Focus Group, I’m proud to see our 100th member milestone marked not just with celebration, but with tangible environmental impact.
Our work within the SFG has always been about embedding sustainability into the DNA of healthcare technology, from greener procurement practices to carbon-conscious innovation and inclusive design. Partnering with NHS Forest to plant 100 trees across NHS Estates is a natural extension of that mission.
These trees will not only enhance biodiversity and wellbeing across healthcare sites, but also serve as living reminders of what collaboration can achieve. It’s a small but meaningful step in a much larger journey, one that reflects AXREM’s commitment to climate resilience, sector leadership, and a healthier future for all.”
Neil Ingram, Trees and Woodlands Delivery Lead said
“NHS Forest is delighted to welcome AXREM as a supporter, and to celebrate their reaching 100 members. The sponsorship will make a tangible contribution to our mission by directly funding the planting of 100 trees during the 2025–26 season. This generous support reflects a shared commitment to nature recovery, environmental resilience, and creating greener, healthier NHS sites for the benefit of staff, patients and communities.”
