AXREM Service and Operations Special Focus Group Publishes Updated and New Guidance Documents to Support Safe, Effective Imaging Services

AXREM, the UK trade association representing the suppliers of diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and healthcare IT solutions, has today announced the release of a series of updated and new operational guidance documents developed by the AXREM Service and Operations Special Focus Group (SFG).

The updated publications demonstrate AXREM’s ongoing commitment to supporting safe, efficient and high‑quality imaging services, ensuring that guidance remains current, practical and aligned with regulatory, professional and clinical expectations. The Service and Operations SFG has worked collaboratively with manufacturers, service organisations and key stakeholders to review and refresh existing documentation while introducing new resources where emerging needs have been identified.

 

Updated and New AXREM Guidance Documents

 

AXREM Handover Form – Updated 
The AXREM Handover Form has been updated to reflect current service practices and stakeholder feedback. The revised document supports a clear, consistent approach to equipment handover, improving communication between suppliers, service teams and healthcare providers, and helping to ensure continuity of safe operation from installation through to clinical use.

 

Electrical Installation Checklist – Updated
The Electrical Installation Checklist has been refreshed to enhance clarity and usability and to better support compliance with applicable standards. The updated checklist strengthens assurance around electrical safety during installation activities and supports both healthcare providers and suppliers in meeting their shared responsibilities.

 

Electrical Installation Safety Document – New
A new Electrical Installation Safety document has been introduced to complement the existing checklist. This guidance provides clearer expectations and practical considerations around electrical safety, reinforcing best practice and supporting a risk‑based approach throughout the installation process. The document has been developed with input from technical experts and key stakeholders to ensure relevance across a range of imaging environments.

 

Emergency Button Guidance – New
AXREM has published new guidance on emergency button provision and use, aligned with relevant IPEM guidance. The document clarifies expectations around functionality, testing and clinical safety considerations, supporting consistency across installations while recognising differences between modalities and clinical settings.

 

Benefits of Remote Access – Coming Soon
The new Benefits of Remote Access document outlines how secure remote access can support equipment uptime, faster fault resolution and improved service efficiency. The guidance highlights patient, provider and operational benefits, while reinforcing the importance of governance, cybersecurity and stakeholder agreement.
