AXREM Release Statement 1st August 2022

Share

AXREM acknowledges recent headlines that recognise pressure on current NHS budgets and planned spending. We feel it is important to highlight the critical role diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and the associated IT/ AI products and services have in helping the NHS deliver quality services, catch up with the elective and cancer backlogs, deliver the recommendations in the Richards’ report and ensure the NHS continues to deliver a world class service to patients.

We believe that sustainable long term investment in diagnostics, introducing digital innovations such as artificial intelligence, new remote working innovations and new Community Diagnostic Centres, will help the NHS address today’s challenges, and plan for the needs of future generations.

Without sustainable funding and investment there is a risk that diagnostic backlogs and cancer referral times will increase and further overload hospitals and NHS Trusts. This will significantly impact the health outcomes of people who need care and place even greater pressures on hospital staff.

Further shocks to the healthcare system can be avoided if current technology programmes continue to as planned, despite the many pressures on funding.

Helping our healthcare professionals use technology to get in front of patient demand must be the priority for all.”
