Following the recent announcement that AXREM has a charity of the year. We are pleased to announce that David Britton the AXREM Patient Monitoring Special Focus Group Convenor and Patient Monitoring and Life Support Marketing Manager UKI at Mindray is running the Great North Run Half Marathon for our first ever AXREM charity of the year.

The AXREM nominated charity for 2024 is Alzheimer’s Research UK. As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK exists for a cure. The charity is working to revolutionise the way dementia is treated, diagnosed, and prevented. But they will not stop there. With your support, Alzheimer’s Research UK will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia.

The Great North Run is the world’s biggest and best half marathon, with 60,000 runners taking on the 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields each year. It’s famous for its inclusive atmosphere, unbeatable on-route entertainment, and warm Geordie welcome, not to mention the millions raised each year for worthy causes. From the rush of thousands of cheering spectators to the oggy-oggy-oggy chants, Great North Run magic can be hard to understand – until you’ve experienced it for yourself. If you are local and want to cheer David along please do let us know.

David Britton said: “ I am delighted to be supporting AXREM’s nominated charity and their superb work with Alzheimer’s. I am not one of this worlds natural runners – finishing a mere 29000 places behind Mo Farrah last year – finishing is my target and if you can spare a little money for this great cause it would be much appreciated “.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said “I was really pleased to hear from David when he offered to run the half marathon for the AXREM charity, I see commitment from our members every day, but this offer is going way above and beyond and I hope our members and supporters will get behind David so we can raise a lot more money for Alzheimer’s Research UK”.
