AXREM Facilitates Parliamentary Visit to ClearView Ultrasound in Corby

AXREM, the UK trade association representing suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment, recently facilitated a visit for Lee Barron MP and his Parliamentary Assistant to the headquarters and repair laboratory of AXREM member ClearView Ultrasound in Corby.
The visit formed part of AXREM’s ongoing government engagement strategy, designed to showcase the vital contribution that the medical technology industry makes to patient care, NHS sustainability, innovation and economic growth.
During the visit, members of the ClearView Ultrasound team welcomed Mr Barron and his Parliamentary Assistant for a comprehensive tour of the company’s facilities, providing first-hand insight into the specialist services delivered from its Corby-based operation. The delegation toured the repair laboratories and met members of the engineering team who demonstrated the highly skilled processes involved in ultrasound probe repair and refurbishment.
Following the tour, ClearView Ultrasound delivered a presentation outlining the company’s history, expertise and services. As a specialist provider of professional ultrasound probe repair services, ClearView Ultrasound helps healthcare providers maximise the lifespan of valuable medical equipment while reducing replacement costs. AXREM CEO Sally Edgington also addressed the visit, providing an overview of AXREM’s activities and highlighting the association’s role in representing and advocating for the imaging, radiotherapy and wider healthcare technology sectors. The presentation showcased how AXREM works collaboratively with government, NHS stakeholders and industry partners to support innovation, improve patient outcomes and strengthen the resilience of healthcare services across the UK.
A key focus of the discussions was the growing importance of circularity and sustainability within healthcare technology. ClearView Ultrasound demonstrated how the repair and refurbishment of ultrasound transducers support sustainability objectives by extending product life cycles, reducing waste and minimising the environmental impact associated with replacing equipment.
The conversations also highlighted the significant financial benefits of repair over replacement. By restoring ultrasound probes to operational condition, healthcare providers can achieve substantial savings, ultimately helping the NHS make more effective use of public funds while maintaining access to high-quality diagnostic equipment. In many cases, the repair of a transducer can save the NHS thousands of pounds compared with the cost of purchasing a new replacement probe.
