It’s been a few weeks since the AXREM UKIO Virtual Awards event hosted by Bill Turnbull, journalist and television presenter, and Sally Edgington, AXREM Director has been travelling around the country ensuing the winners receive their awards.

On Friday 9th July at the AXREM offices in London Sally Edgington met Chris Taylor, Service Delivery Managers at Philips UKI to present him with the AXREM UKIO Sustainability Award.

When presenting this award during the virtual event Bill Turnbull explained that this is an award to recognise those people who have worked hard at implementing a sustainability project/initiative, raised the profile of the sustainability agenda and whose involvement has made a positive impact be that on their peers, their department, or their patients above those expected.

On announcing Chris as the winner, Bill Turnbull explained the reason he had won the award was because he had been proactive in Philips by representing them at the 2-day Global Sustainability Summit & provided influential suggestions on how to improve sustainability awareness & action. Chris has established a company Sustainability Yammer group which already has 155 active members sharing initiatives & activities throughout the community, which has impacted overall awareness of the need for continued sustainability thinking and delivered the Services Sustainability presentation at the companies virtual Conference in January 2021, with 360 colleagues in attendance, who were exposed to the great work local teams, and the company globally are doing to remain a key influencer within the Healthcare Industry & beyond.

Upon being presented with the award Chris Taylor said “It was truly unexpected to win this award, but I’m honoured to do so. Sustainability is a vital subject for our industry, that needs immediate focus. Sir Simon Stevens called it a climate health emergency. We need to make sustainability a major part of every tender and the driver at the core of our health industry. Together we can make a healthy planet, which will result in healthy people, but we need to act now. Thank you again for the nomination and award. This is a subject I’m very passionate about, so to win this is amazing”.

AXREM Director, Sally Edgington said “It is great to see that sustainability is high on industries agenda as we all have a professional and personal responsibility to ensure we create a sustainable world for generations to come. Chris has clearly led this agenda within his company and ensured that he has communicated this to colleagues and peers alike, so a very worthy winner”.
