AXREM to Host Flagship External Stakeholder Conference at the Royal Society of Medicine
30 April 2026
AXREM will bring together more than 200 leaders from across its 120 member companies on 14 October 2026 for its flagship External Stakeholder Conference, held at the Royal Society of Medicine, London. Under the theme Imaging Tomorrow: Innovation, Insight, Impact, the event will convene senior figures from government, NHS England, academia and industry to explore the future of diagnostics and the technologies reshaping patient care.
The conference will open with a high‑level policy discussion led by senior representatives from the Department of Health and Social Care, including a ministerial keynote. This session will examine how national policy is evolving to accelerate MedTech adoption, modernise diagnostic infrastructure and strengthen imaging and radiotherapy provision across the NHS. Delegates can expect insight into procurement reform, digital diagnostics, AI deployment and the government’s ambitions for equitable, sustainable access to care.
NHS England leaders will share updates on major national programmes, including the transformation of imaging services and the continued rollout of Community Diagnostic Centres, with reflections on lessons learned, future challenges and the role of innovation in improving efficiency and outcomes. A dedicated discussion on AI in diagnostics will address the widening gap between technological capability and real‑world adoption, exploring barriers, opportunities, and what is required to scale responsibly.
Sustainability and cyber security: two defining issues for the future of MedTech will also feature prominently. Delegates will hear from Healthcare Ocean on the environmental responsibilities of the sector and from national experts on the escalating cyber risks facing connected health systems and the shared responsibility required to protect patient safety.
The event will also spotlight the evolving roles of NHS Supply Chain and NICE in enabling responsible innovation, value and sustainability through modernised procurement and evidence‑based evaluation.
Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said:
“This conference brings together the people shaping the future of diagnostics at a pivotal moment for the NHS and the MedTech sector. It is an opportunity for meaningful dialogue, shared insight and collective ambition as we work to deliver a modern, resilient and innovative diagnostics ecosystem.”
