AXREM Statement on the Chancellors Spending Review
11 June 2025

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) remains one of the most treasured public services, and people rightly expect it to be there when they need it. Ensuring timely access to essential healthcare, such as scans when they are required is fundamental to maintaining public trust and delivering effective patient care.
A strong NHS, free at the point of use, is essential for the health and well-being of our nation. We welcome the ongoing efforts to cut waiting lists, with over 200,000 reductions in less than a year, demonstrating clear progress in tackling backlogs.
Investment in NHS technology is doubling, with £10 billion dedicated to advancing the transition from analogue to digital services. This will bring vital innovations that enhance efficiency, improve diagnostics, and support frontline healthcare workers.
Returning care to the community and prioritising prevention strategies will help ease the strain on hospitals while ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
The government’s commitment to a record cash investment, with a 3% increase year on year, reaching £29 billion annually, reflects the scale of ambition needed to modernise healthcare. Continued investment in more scanners is imperative to improving diagnostic capacity and delivering faster, more accurate results for patients.
AXREM supports these crucial investments and remains committed to working with stakeholders to ensure that technology, infrastructure, and workforce advancements align with the NHS’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness.
We look forward to more detail around the increasing of scanners and radiotherapy.
