AXREM Publish Imaging IT Manifesto

Here to Enhance Patient Care and Improve Outcomes

AXREM is the UK trade association representing the interests of suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment including patient monitoring in the UK. Our group is comprised of most of the industry supply companies. AXREM members supply most of the diagnostic medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment installed in UK hospitals.

AXREM exists to drive forward the integration and sophistication of imaging technologies within healthcare. Our members aim is to ensure these technologies are accessible, efficient, and pivotal in enhancing patient outcomes through improved diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning.

The Imaging IT Special Focus Group within AXREM has been established for many years and includes companies that provide PACS, RIS, VR, Cloud & Hosted systems and teleradiology services. The group has become very proactive and lead on many initiatives including cyber security, which is one of AXREM’s strategic priorities. The members of this group have unique knowledge, experience and insight into the workflow and challenges faced by healthcare professionals on a day-to day basis, which enables us to develop and offer innovative solutions to improve the security, speed and quality of diagnostic procedures and treatments with our ultimate aim of improving patient care.

This manifesto details priorities for our Imaging IT members including cybersecurity, streamlining workflows to focus on patient care, pioneering accessibility and innovation, advocating for supportive policies, technology adoption/ integration and innovation, standards, best Practice and policy.

The manifesto also has a number of calls to actions including: calling upon all stakeholders in the Imaging IT community to join us in our mission to advance healthcare through technology adoption and innovation, with added focus on AI, Machine Learning and cloud technologies. Together, as one driving force we can harness the power of technology to transform medical imaging, improve patient outcomes, advancing the field of medical imaging for the benefit of all, while shaping the future of healthcare for generations to come.

The authors of the manifesto were Chris Scarisbrick from Sectra, Saduf Ali-Drakesmith from Smart Reporting, Arron Edwards from Intelerad and Ahmed Adnan from Rosenfield, with our wider membership inputting and approving, so we must thanks all those involved for their hard work.

The manifesto will be officially launched later today with an event at Bletchley Park which was the headquarters of the British Military Intelligence Government Code and Cipher School during World War II, we are expecting over 100 members and key stakeholders to attend.

Bob Childe, AXREM Imaging IT Convenor and Chief Commercial Officer at Soliton IT said upon the manifesto being published “We are pleased to publish our manifesto which outlines the challenges faced by all Healthcare IT providers & all NHS Trusts & Health Boards. We hope to work together to minimise the risks by sharing knowledge between us and adoption and innovation of new technologies.”

Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said “The Imaging IT Group have worked really hard on this manifesto and they include some important calls to actions, which I hope we can reach out to the relevant stakeholders to help them be actioned and for improvements to be made.

I would like to see a future where our healthcare system is not fragmented but integrated, where every person has access to the tools and support they need to thrive, In this future, health is not something we seek after a diagnosis, but something we nurture, imagine, and create every day. It’s a future where we see health as a continuous practice, a dynamic force that changes and adapts, just as we do”.
