AXREM Launches Ultrasound Manifesto in Westminster

AXREM yesterday official launched the Manifesto for Medical Ultrasound: The modern-day stethoscope, Right first time…. Helping to improve Ultrasound pathways cost and resource management.

The launch took place at The Palace of Westminster where members from the AXREM Ultrasound Special Focus Group including representatives from Canon Medical Systems Ltd, Fujifilm Healthcare UK Ltd, GE Healthcare Mindray UK Ltd and Philips joined for the photocall.

The group were also pleased to welcome the President of the British Medical Ultrasound Society, Pamela Parker to the event. AXREM have a close working relationship with BMUS, having worked on other projects together.

Pamela Parker, BMUS President said “The publication of the Manifesto for Medical Ultrasound is a milestone in collaboration between, the ultrasound workforce, professional bodies and AXREM. It has never been more important for a vision to be shared between key stakeholders. As demands for services increase, and pathways change to include delivering more point of care ultrasound, there is an increasing need for clinical and industry partners to work together. Our patients deserve optimum equipment, sufficient well-trained practitioners and a fundamental understanding of first line diagnostics from their clinicians. The manifesto lays out the issues and challenges ahead to make this a reality. I am delighted to be President of BMUS at this time and able to strengthen our collaborative working with AXREM as the association moves from strength to strength”.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Director said “AXREM members have worked incredibly hard on this manifesto to highlight some very important issues, including the need for long term sustainable funding and the serious workforce shortages in this area. I look forward to working with members now we have published this document, on how some of these challenges can be tackled, and we will be speaking more about all the things highlighted in this document at the BMUS event in December, during a debate in Cardiff”.
