Local MP Calum Miller Sees First-Hand the Critical Infrastructure Supporting Mobile Diagnostic Services Across the UK
AXREM, the UK trade association representing suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment, recently facilitated a visit by Calum Miller MP, Member of Parliament for Bicester and Woodstock, to Quest Medical’s Upper Heyford facility in Oxfordshire. Calum Miller MP has represented the Bicester and Woodstock constituency since 2024.
The visit provided an opportunity for Calum Miller MP to gain a deeper understanding of the vital role Quest Medical plays in supporting healthcare delivery across the UK through its specialist operational, infrastructure and logistics services. Quest Medical provides comprehensive support services for healthcare operations, including logistics, engineering, infrastructure and asset management solutions that help keep critical healthcare services running.
During the tour, Calum Miller MP was shown the company’s extensive storage and operational facilities at Upper Heyford, home to a significant fleet of mobile diagnostic trailers and units. These facilities enable the rapid deployment, maintenance and management of mobile healthcare assets that support NHS and independent sector providers in delivering diagnostic services where and when they are needed most.
The visit highlighted the increasingly important role that mobile diagnostic solutions play in supporting patient access to care, reducing waiting lists and ensuring continuity of services during hospital refurbishments, equipment upgrades and periods of increased demand.
Quest Medical demonstrated how its specialist logistics capabilities ensure the safe transportation, positioning and operational readiness of complex mobile diagnostic units across the country. The company provides the operational backbone that enables healthcare providers to maintain essential services while maximising flexibility and capacity.
Sally Edgington, Chief Executive Officer of AXREM, said:
“It is incredibly important that policymakers and parliamentarians have the opportunity to see first-hand the infrastructure and expertise that sits behind the delivery of modern healthcare services. Mobile diagnostic units have become an essential component of healthcare provision, helping providers maintain capacity, improve patient access and support service resilience.
We were delighted to facilitate this visit and showcase the important contribution Quest Medical makes to healthcare delivery across the UK. Their specialist logistics, infrastructure and operational support services play a critical role in ensuring mobile diagnostic facilities can be deployed safely and effectively wherever they are needed.”
Jim Davies, Director of Meditech, Quest Medical (UK) Ltd, said:
“We were pleased to welcome Calum Miller MP to our Upper Heyford site and thank AXREM for facilitating the visit. It was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the critical but often unseen work that goes into supporting mobile healthcare services and ensuring diagnostic capacity remains available to healthcare providers nationwide.”
AXREM regularly facilitates engagement between its members and parliamentarians to improve understanding of the technologies, services and infrastructure that underpin modern healthcare delivery and support improved patient outcomes across the UK.
