Leading technology broadcaster, journalist and author to join industry’s premier celebration in London

AXREM is delighted to announce that acclaimed technology broadcaster, journalist and author Lara Lewington will be the special guest at the AXREM Members Lunch & Awards 2027. The event is taking place on Thursday 13 May 2027 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London St Paul’s.

Following the resounding success of the inaugural awards event, the 2027 celebration is set to be bigger, grander and more ambitious than ever before. With more awards, increased attendance and even greater recognition of excellence across the healthcare technology and diagnostic imaging sector.

Lara Lewington will play a key role throughout the day, networking with AXREM members, participating in an exclusive on-stage fireside chat and co-presenting a selection of awards to this year’s winners.

Renowned for making complex technology accessible to mainstream audiences, Lara is one of the UK’s most respected voices on artificial intelligence, innovation and the future of healthcare. For fifteen years, she presented the BBC’s flagship technology programme Click, reporting on breakthrough innovations from around the world. She has fronted Panorama’s Beyond Human: Artificial Intelligence and Us and hosted technology specials for ITV’s Tonight, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and other major broadcasters, examining how advances in AI, science and technology are transforming everyday life.

As ITV Lorraine’s resident “AI Agony Aunt”, Lara regularly helped audiences understand both the opportunities and challenges posed by rapidly evolving technologies.

Her critically acclaimed book, Hacking Humanity (Penguin, 2025), explores the emerging revolution in personalised health. Which reveals how technology will enable us to better understand, track and predict our health needs, while helping to close the gap between health span and lifespan. Through her writing and documentary work, Lara has become a leading commentator on the science and innovation that could help future generations live longer and healthier lives.

Lara Lewington said about her involvement in the event

As someone who is passionate about the good that AI and technology can bring to the future of healthcare, I am delighted to be involved. The innovation is there and as AI helps us understand more about the interactions between lifestyle, genetics and disease occurrence, we are heading to a place where we can better understand risk, screen those who need it the most and prevent, or at least treat early disease. One of the greatest challenges now though isn’t the technology, it’s how we bring this into healthcare systems and provide equitable access to the best advancements and that’s why events and conversations on the topic, are so crucial”.

AXREM Chief Executive Officer, Sally Edgington, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Lara Lewington to the AXREM Members Lunch & Awards 2027. Lara is an exceptional communicator and thought leader whose work sits at the intersection of technology, innovation and healthcare, making her the perfect guest for our industry celebration.

Following the success of our inaugural event, we’re raising the bar in 2027 with more awards, more attendees and more opportunities to recognise and celebrate the incredible work taking place across our industry. Lara’s participation will be a fantastic addition to what promises to be a truly memorable day.”
