AXREM Announces Dementia UK as Charity of the Year 2026
06 January 2026
AXREM, the UK trade association representing suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment, is proud to announce Dementia UK as its Charity of the Year for 2026.
Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Their nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, specialist advice, support and understanding to anyone affected by dementia, whenever it’s needed. With the support of an Admiral Nurse and Dementia UK, whether it’s on the Helpline, through their Clinics service, or in the community, families know they are not alone.
By partnering with Dementia UK, AXREM members will help raise vital funds and awareness to ensure more families can access this life-changing support.
This announcement follows the success of the previous two years, where AXREM members collectively raised money for Alzheimer’s Research UK in 2024 and £10,000 for Action for Children in 2025, demonstrating the sector’s commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond healthcare technology.
Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said:
“We are delighted to support Dementia UK as our Charity of the Year for 2026. Dementia touches so many lives, and Admiral Nurses provide invaluable care and guidance to families navigating the challenges it brings. AXREM members are passionate about driving innovation in healthcare, and equally committed to supporting charities that transform lives. We look forward to working together to raise awareness and funds for this vital cause.”
Joanna Sullivan, Head of Community Fundraising, Events and Innovation at Dementia UK said:
“We are so grateful to AXREM & their members for selecting Dementia UK as their charity of the year. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both. It can be exhausting and overwhelming, not only for the person with dementia, but also for the people caring for them, and their wider family and friends.
Thanks to the hard work of our amazing fundraisers, more families than ever will be able to access the life-changing support offered by our Admiral Nurses.”
AXREM will be organising a number of fundraising activities throughout the year to support Dementia UK.
Highlights include a collection at the ever-popular Happy Hour social event at UKIO in Liverpool, the return of the Million Steps Challenge in September, building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, and a raffle at the AXREM Inaugural Members Lunch and Awards in April.
Companies wishing to donate a raffle prize are warmly invited to get in touch, by emailing sally.edgington@axrem.org.uk
Further details of all fundraising activities will be shared in the coming weeks.
