Share

AXREM and the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) are pleased to announce closer ties to collaborate and raise awareness of events, campaigns and activities among their respective memberships, users and stakeholders.

In working more closely, the two organisations will continue to cooperate on shared initiatives such as Ultrasound Transducer Decontamination, a best-practice summary whose creation included input from Society & College of Radiographers.

Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer, said, “We have worked with BMUS via our Ultrasound Special Focus Group for the last 3 years, collaborating on a number of projects. AXREM also supported the BMUS Annual Scientific Meeting for the last two years, hosting debates and supporting our members exhibiting. Formalising our partnership is a fabulous step to strengthening our relationship, and continuing to build on the collaborative work we have done.”

Emma Tucker, Operations & Development Manager at BMUS, said, “BMUS look forward to continuing our close working relationship with AXREM. This agreement will cement our relationship for years to come and will only prove to strengthen it.”

About AXREM and BMUS

AXREM is the UK trade association representing the interests of suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy and healthcare IT and care equipment, including patient monitoring in the UK. AXREM’s member companies supply most of the diagnostic medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment installed in UK hospitals. They work with Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and Practitioners, Oncologists and a wide range of healthcare professionals in delivering healthcare to patients using these technologies.

AXREM’s members have unique knowledge, experience and insight into the workflow and challenges faced by healthcare professionals on a day-to-day basis, which enables development and provision of innovative solutions to improve the speed and quality of diagnostic procedures and treatments with the ultimate aim of improving patient care.

Although AXREM’s members operate in a highly competitive commercial environment and in strict conformity with UK laws and regulations, certain issues such as this require focus and resolution on an industry-wide basis.

BMUS is a multi-disciplinary body with membership drawn from a wide range of industries, including medical and allied health professionals, physicists, engineers, nurses, midwives, technicians, general practitioners, vets and others with an interest in medical ultrasound, both in the United Kingdom and overseas.

The aims of BMUS are:

  • The advancement of the science and technology of ultrasonics as applied to medicine.
  • The maintenance of the highest standards in these fields.
  • The advancement of education and research in these areas, and dissemination of the results.
  • The provision of advice and information regarding ultrasound to the public at large. Registered Charity No: 215869

The success of the Society stems to a great extent from its multi-disciplinary nature, its regular special topic meetings, its Annual Scientific Meeting and its quarterly scientific journal, Ultrasound.
