AXREM members may provide customers with medical imaging equipment for the purpose of demonstration or short -term loan. Many items of equipment have the facility to store patient information and images. This information (PHI, PII, personnel data, etc.) is covered by the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018). Meeting these data protection requirements can present issues both for normal service operations as well as specific issues for demo and short-term loan equipment.
This position paper sets out how AXREM members safeguard the data using a variety of methods.
