How we do this:
Curvebeam products are based on Conebeam CT technology which carries a significantly lower radiation dosage compared with conventional CT and equivalent to a corresponding X-ray set. For lower extremity orthopaedic surgeons, being able to see 3D images of patients in the functional position allows them to properly evaluate bone positioning and joint spacing that is not
possible with conventional X-Ray or multi-detector CT (MDCT). Our scanners can also provide weight-bearing 3D, long-leg alignment scans required for lower extremity joint replacements. Better imaging leads to better clinician decision making and ultimately better outcomes for patients.
For patients, the scans are simple and quick, with a walk-in platform allowing the scan to be completed in as few as 30 seconds. The reduced radiation dosage in comparison with MDCT is increasingly important in a world where 3D, pre-operative imaging is becoming a requirement. For upper extremities, the patient simply places their hand/wrist/elbow in the scanner with a 3D scan completed in 25 seconds.
In terms of satisfaction, patients consistently rate Standing CT services highly with more than 95% of patients giving a score of 9 or 10 in 2021 (NPS scale from 0-10).
