The role of the Agency is to act as a centre of expertise, knowledge and excellence
in purchasing and supply matters for the health service. As an integral part of the
Department of Health, the Agency is in a key position to advise on policy and
strategic direction of procurement, and its impact on developing healthcare, across
the NHS.
Intended to function not just as an advisory and coordinating body but also an active
participant in the ongoing modernisation of purchasing and supply in the health
service, the Agency contracts on a national basis for products and services,
which are strategically critical to the NHS.
The British Institute of Radiology
The Institute is an independent forum, which aims to bring together all the
professions in radiology and allied medical and scientific disciplines to share
knowledge, and educate the public, thereby improving the prevention and detection
of disease and the management and treatment of patients.
The Royal College of Radiologists
The College has over 6,800 members and Fellows worldwide representing the disciplines
of clinical oncology and clinical radiology. All members and Fellows of the College
are registered medical or dental practitioners.
The role of the College is to advance the science and practice of radiology and oncology,
further public education and promote study and research through setting professional
standards of practice.
The British Medical Ultrasound Society
BMUS is a charitable, multi-disciplinary society, whose members are health care professionals
and include radiologists, sonographers, obstetricians, physicists, veterinarians and
others.
BMUS works to advance the science and application of ultrasound in medicine, and to provide
education, guidance and information for its members and the public.
The stated mission of NHS Supply Chain is to provide an innovative and dedicated end-to-end supply chain
service that can meet the needs of NHS healthcare organisations in England. Through their logistics,
procurement and customer support services, NHS Supply Chain aims to provide over £1 billion of savings
to the NHS over the next 10 years, enabling customers to release the resources they need to actively focus
on the delivery of quality frontline patient care and cost base management.
They aim to support the needs of over 600 hospitals in England, working closely with NHS Trusts to deliver
high quality, original goods across key product categories. They state that they understand the importance
of value to their customers, and will work hard to create partnerships with a range of suppliers to deliver
sustainable value to the NHS.
